Mike
qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Grant Thornton in London in
1985 having gained a Law Degree from Aberdeen University. He had 2 finance
roles in industry between 1986 and 1990 including Director of a 250
person Architectural Design company with offices worldwide. In addition
to the hands-on finance roles, he built up experience in Information
Technology, implementing and integrating systems (including an IBM36
and a bespoke system on Apple Mac), mergers & acquisitions, and an abortive
flotation.
In 1991,
he established The Business of Business Limited, primarily to serve
the needs of businesses whose complexity did not require nor could afford
a full time Finance/IT Director but whose size and development needed
regular access to that level of sophistication.
For the
last 10 years, he has maintained the principle that any company's finance
function should be a resource to be embraced not an overhead to be feared.
The success of that approach can be evidenced in the attached case studies
over a broad range of projects and business sectors.
Mike is
both a Finance and an IT specialist carrying out interim Finance Director
type assignments and implementing Management Information system (primarily
but not exclusively using the MYOB range of software with whom he is
a certified consultant.) He has also developed Corporate Finance skills
qualifying as an FSA-approved person in 2002.
